Lou Diamond Phillips is in demand. It was exciting to get to speak with the dedicated actor during one of the promotions for his recent endeavors.

BLINDSPOT

Blindspot tells the story of a beautiful woman, with no memories of her past,  who is found naked in Times Square with her body covered in intricate tattoos. Her discovery sets off a mystery that ignites the attention of the FBI, who begin following the road map on her body that reveals a larger conspiracy of crime, while bringing her closer to discovering the truth about her identity.

Lou plays Saul Guerro, a violent killer and #2 on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, who the team stumbles upon while following a tattoo clue.

What attracted you to playing Saul Guerro Lou?

Lou Diamond Phillips: Every actor loves to play the bad guy. This character has no limits, and is actually quite funny. He has tremendous power and is overly confident. It gives you an opportunity to stretch and have some fun.

Lou ‘s character compliments the mix of stellar performers, including:  Sullivan Stapleton, Jaimie Alexander,  Rob Brown , Audrey Esparza, Ukweli Roach, and Ashley Johnson, but is especially riveting when he goes head to head with the always exciting, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, playing Bethany Wayfair, Assistant Director of the FBI and directly in charge of the team investigating the tattooed woman(Jaimie Alexander).

JEAN

DIAMOND

What was it like working on The 33,  a true story that has the eye of the International Movie audience?

Lou Diamond Phillips: It was humbling. I got to meet and be advised by my real life character Luis Urzua. To actually be able to spend time with the men that experienced this was  inspiring. Everyone in the cast was so moved by the story. I hope the world gets to see the bravery of these men, and the courageous women that refused to give up hope. It’s a deeply moving story.

Lou also just completed shooting the title role in the independent film “The Night Stalker,” as infamous serial killer Richard Ramirez, who wreaked havoc in Los Angeles in the 80’s. Bellamy Young from “Scandal” co-stars.
