I spent my Valentine’s Day with Actor Isaiah Washington, his wife Jenisa Washington and Bulleit Bourbon!
I’ve seen Isaiah Washington in many things on TV and on the big screen. I was really excited about getting to meet him and being able to talk to him.
The night was filled with great journalists and amazing conversation. It was great to be around people who are doing things like myself.
Isaiah spoke about his film at the Pan African Film Festival Blackbird. The film is about a young singer struggles with his sexuality and the treatment of others while coming of age in a small Southern Baptist community. Isaiah plays the sympathetic father of a talented teen singer who is gay and struggling with it in a small Southern Baptist town.
Isaiah’s goal is to make thought provoking projects. He wants to push the envelope and make us all think about what is going on in the world. He loves producing because it allows him to be involved from beginning to end and see the full picture.
Isaiah didn’t get involved in acting to be famous. He wanted people to see that his skin was beautiful and to push what people thought he could do.
It was a real conversation. He said if you don’t like the things I am producing and doing tell me. It was a really inspiring night.
Isaiah’s wife Jenisa was with him they were also celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary. She thanked all of us for being there and reporting honest stories. It made me want to work harder and do amazing things.
