Ground Breaking Comedian Joan Rivers Has Died At 81

Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers, great breaking comedian, died Thursday at the age of 81, a week after she suffered cardiac arrest during a routine surgery, her daughter said in a statement.

Joan underwent throat surgery at Yorkville Endoscopy in Manhattan when a 911 call was placed saying that she stopped breathing. She was rushed to Mount Sinai in NYC where she was placed in a medically induced coma.

She took to the stage in the 1960s when being a female comic was unheard of. Joan earned a guest spot on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, which threw her into the spotlight. She then became a guest host on the show.

One thing I learned from her was that she took every gig she was given. I was shocked to see that she kept every joke she every said in drawers.

Joan went on to be a red carpet correspondent for E! and started Fashion Police and still to this day went on the road.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa Rivers and her grandson Cooper Endicott.

Joan Rivers will definitely be missed. Thank you for making us all laugh!
