Fox has selected Harry Connick Jr. to fill the Judges seat on the 13th season of American Idol. Harry shares the panel with veteran judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. Randy Jackson will not be judging but he will be sticking around to mentor.
” I am thrilled to have been selected as a judge for American Idol XIII” said Harry. “I’ve enjoyed mentoring on the show many times, and I’m truly honored to become a judge”.
Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban had been previously announced. Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey exited the show after sluggish ratings. Jennifer Lopez had been a judge in 2011 and 2012, and returned as a guest performer last season. Jennifer Hudson, Will. I. Am, and Dr. Luke were reportedly all under consideration to fill the judges chair. There will not be a fourth American Idol judge this season. Ryan Seacrest will return as host.
