It was a treat to speak with accomplished actor Linden Ashby (Wyatt Earp, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil) about his Directing Debut ‘Escaping My Stalker’ for Lifetime Movies, and directing himself in the feature film.

What was the catalyst that inspired you to direct your first feature Film for TV?

Linden Ashby. Pierre David, one of the Producers of the film was very instrumental, along with my wife Susan Walters who joined me on the set for support. Pierre really understands the pacing of the Thriller Genre and he has produced many Lifetime Movies so he is very familiar with the audience. He gave me a lot of trust and support. I had great positive reinforcement. I am very grateful. I was also fascinated by the script that was written by Stephen Romano. It is set in the world of the homeless in L.A. and the complex issue is really heartbreaking. The L.A. cinematic backdrop is also both challenging and exhilarating to work with.

What did you enjoy about the Director’s experience?

Linden Ashby. I loved the collaborative environment. I didn’t feel any stress and I wanted to allow people to just do what they are good at. It was a rough and tumble time schedule but I felt at ease with the amazing cast. I had previously worked with Alexandra Paul, and we got into the flow very quickly. Ezmie Garcia is the young girl who plays our adopted daughter and she was terrific. You may not know who she is now, but you won’t forget her after you watch the film. My wife has a great skill set and we work well as a team,  I was able to bounce ideas off of her and listen to her ideas. It really lowered the pressure. And of course, working with Mariette Hartley, she is a pro and she hit it out of the park! Pedro Correa plays a friend to Ezmie and he was professional and added a special spark to his character.

Do you think you will be open to directing again?

Linden Ashby. Absolutely! I am already scheduled to direct another Lifetime movie this year.

What is the most important concept you would offer an actor on your set?

Linden Ashby. To live truthfully, under imaginary circumstances!
