Kevin Bacon plays Ryan Hardy who is brought back to the FBI after being let go. Ryan lost it during the case of serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). He went through hell and back to capture him.
Joe is a former college professor who taught literature and the works of Poe who killed young women and the beauty of it. Joe follows the work of Poe and thought it was a beautiful thing to kill women.
After being in prison he spent hours on the computer in the prison library building up a social network of killers, potential killers and people looking for connections. These people hang on his every command. With these followers Joe is able finish out his works. He is angry with Ryan for capturing him and getting together for his wife. Ryan wrote a book about his killings so Joe wants to create a sequel. He wants to makes Ryan’s life a living hell. He uses his followers to kill people and to push Ryan in every direction. It’s all a mind game.
You never know where this show is going to go. The people you thought you could trust you can’t. It’s seriously one of the best shows on TV. You are on the edge of your seat the entire time. I have to watch with all the lights on lol. It’s so creepy, with twists and turns every minute.
James Purefoy plays Joe perfectly. He is so freakishly good as the bad guy. He is controlling everything from the inside of a prison and messing with Ryan and knows his every move.
As I said if you’re not watching you should be. If you’re looking for great TV with a good script, good acting and a thrill ride every week this is the show for you.
