Well, well, well, it looks like that proposed Alien film Neill Blomkamp teased geeks everywhere via elaborate artwork designs a couple months ago will in fact see the light of day. News outlets reported this being official earlier today, along with Mr. Blomkamp himself using Instagram to announce it would be his next film…
The interesting part of this is it sounds like Ridley Scott’s sequel to the prequel (you following me? HA!) to Alien, Prometheus 2, is still on track as well. Regardless, sounds like the next couple years will be a heck of a time to be a die-hard fan of the Alien films in general.
My biggest question is how does Blomkamp’s story, as rumored to include Sigourney Weaver’s return as Ellen Ripley, and potentially Corporal Dwayne Hicks (Michael Biehn), will circumvent the events of Alien 3? Either way this news is pretty mind-blowing to say the least. Seriously, who ever thought there would be a chance in hell Fox would green-light this type of an Alien movie again?
