Forest Whitaker stars with Oprah Winfrey garnering lots of praise for her portrayal of his wife. Terrence Howard, Jane Fonda, Lenny Kravitz also star. Great Entertainment!
Fruitvale Station. DVD. Blue-Ray. Imdb Pro-rating 7.7. Another true story that was introduced at the Sundance Film Festival and has brought accolades for its star Michael B. Jordan as well as supporters Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and newcomer Melanie Diaz. A young (and Innocent) man is shot and killed by an overzealous police cop in an Oakland train staion on New Years Eve.
Short Term 12. DVD. Blue-ray. IMDB Pro-rating 8.2. This film is on many critics Top Ten List for 2013 and has gotten a score of 99% customer satisfaction on Rotten Tomatoes. It tells the heart-warming story of a young girl committed to working with troubled teens and evolve into her life at the same time. Brie Larson, Keith Stanfield and John Gallagher Jr. star.
Enough Said. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 7.4. Also high on the critics list and sadly, James Gandolfinis’s final contribution to the art of filmmaking. A touching, funny, and poignant tale with one of the funniest lady comedians of the day – Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, as a single Mom trying to move on and find new love after a divorce and all the sticky situations that involves. Don’t miss it…
The Spectacular Now. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 7.5. Could get an Oscar nod for best picture. Deeply moving coming of age and appreciation of how good life can be at any given moment. Shailene Woodley has received high praise for her performance. Miles teller and Short Term 12 star Brie Larson are the supporting cast.
20 Feet From Stardom. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 7.8. An Academy favorite. Should win Oscars Best Documentary, but will get a nomination for sure. The true life story of the struggles of back-up singers for recognition and survival who have sung back-up for some of the greatest stars in history. From singing back up for Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Bette Midler. So close – and yet so far.
Riddick. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 6.5. Vin Diesel stars in this Sci-Fi adventure of a man left as the only survivor on a planet filled with monstrous Aliens. Katie Sackoff and Karl Urban join the fun.
Carrie. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 6.2. Horror classic with Chloe Grace Moretz starring as everybody’s favorite telekinetic high school outcast with a religious fanatic mother. Carrie is pushed to the limit and gets her revenge with some help from her paranormal abilities at the High School Prom..A remake of the Steven King thriller.
