It’s with great regret to report, per ABC News, as well as Huffington Post sources that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was pronounced dead today at the age of 46. He was reportedly found in his Manhattan apartment, and a possible drug overdose is being considered as one of the reasons Hoffman past away.

One report suggested he was found by his personal assistant with a hypodermic needle still in his arm, laying unconscious. It should be noted that as recent as last year Hoffman had checked himself into rehab after relapsing in 2012 with drug abuse issues.

It goes without saying he was one of the true greats of this generation for actors, and he still very much had a long career ahead of him considering he was only in his mid-40s. From Capote, Boogie Nights, Moneyball, Magnolia, Charlie Wilson’s War, to Mission Impossible 3, this guy was at the top of his craft in anything he ever starred in. Hollywood lost a rare talent today.
