For those looking forward to the upcoming Star Wars film, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story“, director Gareth Edwards just put to rest any speculation of Han Solo appearing in the film: “I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do this, but I think I should. I can put to bed, Han Solo is not in the movie.”
More recently, the news broke that Alden Ehrenreich was cast as the new Han Solo, and would ultimately have his own spin-off film.
That being said, many had speculated whether Ehrenrich’s Solo would end up in Rogue One due to the timeline being right before the events in the original Star Wars (Episode IV/1977). However, that simply wouldn’t have made any logical sense. The character had no direct involvement in helping the Rebels until his run in with Obi-Wan and Luke in Episode IV, and furthermore, what kind of a tacky add-on scene could have been forced into Rogue One with Han?? I can see it now, they’d have shot a scene with him getting his mack on with random women at the Mos Eisley Cantina. What a waste of material that would have been given the circumstances.
Nonetheless, the Han Solo-less Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released nationwide December 16th, 2016!!
