Sandy Hook Students Return to Classes at New School on Thursday

Sandy Hook Students Return to School

The Sandy shootings rocked the country and the world. The students headed back to school Thursday.

When they went back to school they found it almost like they left it. Some teachers took photos of the classroom to prepare their students for their return.

The December 14th shootings it left 27 people dead including the principal Dawn Hoschsprung. It must have been very hard to return back to the school after such a horrific day.

A Newtown Councilman said that security was revamped at the Chalk Hill school located six miles away making it the safest school in America.

A home across the street from Chalk Hill also has a large banner attached to its white picket fence. It reads, “Welcome Sandy Hook Elementary!”

Over the last few weeks there has been major construction in the former middle school to make it more elementary friendly. The students were greeted by a familiar face with their principal Donna Page, who retired in 2010 returning on a temporary basis.

“I want parents and families enduring the loss of their precious children to know their loved ones are foremost in our hearts and minds as we move forward,” Page wrote in a letter to parents. “Your strength and compassion has been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to me and countless others as we work to honor the memory of your precious children and our beloved staff.”

We wish them all the best in the New Year!
