This Sunday April 7th Oprah Winfrey visits Academy Award-winning actress Jane Fonda and her adopted daughter Mary Williams for their first-ever interview together on an all-new episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” airing on OWN.

Jane’s daughter, Mary grew up as a member of the Black Panther Party. She recently wrote about in her memoir The Lost Daughter. When Mary was 16, she left Oakland and came to live with Jane in her Santa Monica, CA home. They talk about how they met and Mary shares what it was like becoming a part of Jane’s larger-than-life world. Joining the conversation is Jane’s biological son Troy.

At 14, Mary Williams moved from the poverty-stricken streets of East Oakland, California, to Jane Fonda’s hacienda in Santa Monica, California, becoming the adopted daughter many people didn’t know the actress had. Mary Williams on Being Invited to Live with Jane Fonda: “I Didn’t Even Think About It”

Growing up in Oakland, California, in the ’70s, Mary Williams was one of six children raised by a single mother after Mary’s father was sent to prison. At age 13, Mary was invited to attend the Laurel Springs Children’s Camp run by Jane Fonda and her then-husband, Tom Hayden. There, her bond with Jane grew strong. One year later, Jane invited Mary to live with her in Santa Monica, California. Watch as Mary recalls the moment her entire life changed.
