Star Trek 3 Director Named! (And other Trekkie News!)

According to a report over at Variety.com, Writer/Producer Roberto Orci has been pegged by Paramount Pictures to helm the third Star Trek film. There were rumblings that Orci had been actively campaigning for the job in recent months, and his persistence has officially paid off.

That being said, regardless of Orci’s box-office success from writing such hits as Star Trek (2009), Transformers 1 & 2, Cowboys and Aliens, and more recently, The Amazing Spiderman 2, it’s still a bit risky to put someone in the director’s chair who has never helmed a feature length film in my opinion. However, the good news is he’s a self-proclaimed die hard Trekkie that is very, very knowledgeable of every incarnation of Trek that has come before the JJ Abrams films.

Speaking of Trekkies, in other Trek related news, let’s take a look at this Star Trek themed mansion that’s now currently up for sale, according to a story over on Mashable.com

The former CEO of the once popular website, FriendFinder, Marc Bell, is currently listing this geek fan’s dream house for roughly $35 million dollars. The house includes several Star Trek themed rooms, one of which is an in-house movie theater room that looks like the bridge of the Starship Enterprise!
