She could turn on the world with her smile. She made women around the world think they can do it.

It’s with great sadness that we announce Mary Tyler Moore has passed away. The star died in a Conneticut hospital.

MTM’s longtime rep Mara Buxbaum issued a statement to TMZ saying, “Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine.”

“A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”

We’re told Mary had been on a respirator for more than a week.

She earned an Oscar nomination for best actress after crushing it in the 1980 flick “Ordinary People” and earned 7 Emmy Awards.

Ten years ago I wanted to interview her and sent her a letter. I got one back it was amazing.

Many people growing up watching Mary Tyler Moore followed her path to be on the news like Oprah. She was Mary’s biggest fan.

#RIP Mary. Thank you for showing us a strong, working, amazing woman on TV. “We’re going to make it after all.”
