RICH AND FAMOUS – GIRLS GONE WILD
I knew about Joe Francis and some of his craziness but this was a whole new level. The man dragged a woman by her hair on camera. He is in Mexico and won’t come back because of charges against him. It’s one of those things I watched, just to watch to see what it was all about. You’re not missing anything if you don’t watch.
White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch – Netflix
There’s a lot of nostalgia here if you grew up in the height of A&F. Back in the day many of us spent every weekend at the mall. I was an American Eagle girl so it took a lot to get me inside. A&F. I remember girls wearing A&F sweats with Ugg Boots and that did not appeal to me. All I saw were skinny girls wearing stuff from there. I may have been a senior in high school before I bought a few shirts from there because I loved some of their graphic tees and tanks. Everything was expensive but when you are working and living at home it was easier to do. I have no idea how it became the success it did but it did and then a major fall.
The documentary looks at their hiring practices that broke many laws and the head honcho that lead it all, Mike Jeffries. A&F was branded for the cool kids, the white kids, invite only. The company was a huge part of pop culture in the 90s that showed up in songs, TV shows, on celebrities and more. There’s nothing incredibly shocking in the documentary but it’s interesting. If you grew up in the mall era you will relate.
Abbott Elementary
I just found this show. I never got into The Office or Parks and Rec so I wasn’t sure about this. It’s not out right funny but there are funny moments. I love the cast and their quirky personalities. Creator, Quinta Brunson was a staple on Buzzfeed many of you may remember. If you didn’t catch it on ABC you can watch it on Hulu. It’s very cute and full of moments we can all relate to.
