Words cannot describe what Oprah has done for me over the years. I know what some of you are thinking because I have heard it…”How? You don’t know her.” Oprah has become a TV surrogate mom for me. I started watching The Oprah Show when I was 3 or so. I am now in my 20’s. Oprah has been with me from a little girl to a woman. I hope one day to thank her in person for all she has done for me. The ending of The Oprah Winfrey isn’t the end of Oprah but it’s an era that’s over. I have spent my afternoons watching Oprah. I used to come home from school and watch her, the I recorded it and watched it. I planned classes around it, etc. It has been such a part of my life. The show has brought so much happiness and information to so many people around the world.
Oprah is not just a show she is a person that has changed lives around the world. The Oprah Show plays in 150 countries that’s millions of people a day. She got kids and adults to read again. The audience has risen up to give back like Oprah has. Oprah has sent so many people to school on scholarships. So the next time you think Oprah is just a TV personality think about all that. She has taken her show and touched and helped so many.
Watching the Oprah’s surprise specatular 2 part show shows you all of this. Thousands of people came out to share their love of Oprah. Celebs included, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Josh Groban, Madonna, Rosie, Dakota Fanning, Diane Sawyer, Halle Berry, Tyler Perry. It was amazing. It was like watching the opening of the Olympic ceremonies.
There were huge numbers from Kristen Chenoweth singing “For Good” with 400 men that Oprah has helped go to school. It was a sight to see. Patti Labelle and Josh Groban sang” Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Beyonce sang her new hit “Who Run the World.” I am telling you it was a sight to see I wish I was there. I tried to get tix but once again didn’t get them.
I have to say to Oprah and her amazing staff a thank you for teaching me so much throughout the last 25 years. They have brought shows to us that will stick with me forever. I am dreading the last show but hope that it’s the beginning of something new and one day I will get to meet Oprah and thank her in person.
