Nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor (Christian Bale), Best Actress (Amy Adams), Best Supporting Actor (Bradley Cooper) and Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Lawrence) this David O’ Russell film hit all the marks as great entertainment. Jeremy Renner is also sparkling in this (sort of) true story about the AbScam Scandal in New Jersey back in the 70’s. Great characters and costumes.

Froze

Frozen. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 8. This Disney animated film was a winner at the box office and there is talk of a Broadway spin-off in the works. Winning Best Animated Oscar and the Best Oscar for the song ‘Frozen’. It’s the story of two sisters who lose their Royal parents in a terrible Ocean accident. They have been locked away for years because of one sisters power to create snow and ice at will. She accidentally freezes her entire kingdom and goes on a quest to turn things around meeting a handsome helper (Kristoff) and many magical creatures along the way. Magical!

MANDELA

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 7.1. Idris Elba does a spectacular job of portraying Nelson Mandela in this adaptation of his autobiography. Naomie Harris also stars as Winnie Mandela.

BANKS

Saving Mr. Banks. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 7.7. Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson star in the telling of Walt Disney’s efforts to bring the beloved Mary Poppins story to the screen. Thompson plays the curmudgeonly P.L. Travers, author of Mary Poppins, who is reluctant to have her story put on the big screen. Walt Disney was relentless in his pursuit of her approval. The world is grateful for his efforts, Mary Poppins being one of the most favorite Disney films of all time.  Colin Farrell plays Mr. Banks.

KILL

Kill Your Darlings. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 6.7. The story of Allen Ginsberg and the beginning of what is called the ‘Beat Generation’ that ginsberg started with his fellow writers Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroguhs. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe plays Ginsberg in this rather chilling story of frienship, love and murder. Dane DeHaan, Elizabeth Olsen, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Michael C. Hall also star.
