Oscar season is heating up as big name feature’s with plenty of buzz premiere for the holiday season and just in time to be considered for Academy Award nominations. Friday, Dec. 6 sees two important films hitting the theaters. The Coen Brothers Inside Llewyn Davis with Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and has been picking up awards, and garnering praise for Oscar Isaac.
Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana, Casey Affleck, and Woody Harrelson, deals with trauma and loneliness of a war veteran returning home and suffering from Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD). Christian Bale’s other big Oscar contender and one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, American Hustle with Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence opens next week on December 13th.
Speaking of Jeremy Renner, he will resume his role as the fugitive black ops agent, in the final episode of the Bourne series franchise Bourne 5, to be directed by Justin Lin of the Fast and The Furious franchise. The script will be written by Anthony Peckham who wrote the first Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and also Invictus, the Clint-Eastwood directed, Nelson Mandela film.
Netflix has announced that the original series House Of Cards will be returning for season 2 on February 14, 2014. The successful series stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright Penn.
Fox and Warner Brothers announced that they are planning a Batman prequel TV series titled Gotham, that will follow a young Detective James Gordon who will delve into the homicide of Batman’s parents the Wayne’s. The series will debut in 2014.
