The Race. Imagine Berlin in 1936. Here’s a hint, Adolf Hitler, champion of the blue-eyed, blonde haired Aryan, is hosting the Olympic Games. The irony is, Black athlete Jessie Owens (played by Stephan James), will win 4 gold medals right before his eyes. It’s a true story biopic, filled with courage, self-respect, and determination – also starring Jason Sudeikis and Jeremy Irons.
The Witch. This horror story is getting plenty of positive buzz. The devil comes calling in this 1620 New England nightmare, but is he a demon or just part of the family? When Tomasina, the oldest of 4 children, is taking care of her younger brother, he suddenly vanishes. Being Salem and all, she’s immediately branded a witch – by her own family no less. Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie star.
The Risen. A religious story bringing the Gospel to life as Joseph Fiennes, a fierce Roman soldier, is given the task of finding out what happened to Jesus’s body after the execution. Cliff Curtis is Jesus.
