The Holocaust survivor story The Book Thief,  adapted from the beloved novel of the same name by Markus Zusak tops DVD releases for March 11. The International Data BAse (IMDb) is the industry standard for critical and audience satisfaction.

The Book Thief. DVD. Blue Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 7.7. Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson star in this beloved war drama about a young girl taken into a foster home in Germany where she is taught to read by a Jewish man who is hiding from the Nazi’s in her new  home.

A Coen Brothers movie based loosely on the life of folk singer Dave Van Ronck in the early 1960’s just prior to Bob Dylan’s eclipsing everyone in the Greenwich Village scene. Oscar Isaac plays the lead character. Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan also star as folk singers. Plenty of great music.

Out of the Furnace. DVD. Blue Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 6.9. A thriller drama with a first-rate cast, based in the decaying ‘Rust Belt’ of Pennsylavania with Christian Bale, Casey Affleck and Zoe Saldana as the love interest. Christian Bale is a hard working guy in the steel mill trying to support his father, who is suffering form Alzheimer’s, and his brother , who is struggling with PTSD from a tour in Iraq. His brother gets involved with some serious criminals and Christian Bale has to take matters into his own hands.
