The Lylas Step into the Spotlight and onto WE TV

WE TV celebrated the premiere of its newest original series, The Lylas, (which stands for “Love You Like A Sister,”) Thursday night in Hollywood at Warwick’s with an exclusive red carpet, star-studded event. Yours truly was on hand on the red carpet to interview The Lylas (Jaime, Tiara, Tahiti and Presley). If you didn’t know they are the sister of the uber talented Bruno Mars.

The girls moved from Honolulu to Los Angeles to make a name for themselves in the music industry and become the next big American Female singing group. In this new docu-series, the sisters are faced with personal and professional obstacles such as the death of their mother and major rifts within their management team that they didn’t see coming as they prepare to launch their music career.

I talked with the girls on the red carpet. Let me tell you they are all so sweet. They are all very talented and will make a name for themselves. This whole family is blessed with talent. I told them I’m the 5th member of the group. There was a ton of music people there last night and well, just a lot of people. They were all surprised it was for them. The girls were joking that they thought only 30 people if that would show up.

The Lylas WE TV premiere

Get to know The Laylas:

Presley: She is the youngest of 6. Presley said she didn’t get away with much. Her parents knew what she was doing because her siblings already did it. Her first memory is her mom bringing her on stage with her during a performance. Almost immediately, she realized that she loved being the center of attention and began performing publicly on stage to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On”, but as she got older, she started to develop stage fright.

Tiara: She is the middle of the 6 kids. Tiara didn’t want to go into the music business that her whole family was in so she became a preschool teacher.

Tahiti: Is a mom of 2, Zyah and Nyjah. Now that she am a mom, it is amazing to look back at her own mother, who is her biggest influence, who raised six kids while living her passion.

Jaime: She is the oldest sister.  Jaime entered her first talent show in 6th grade singing Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All”. She was the first to move to LA to follow her dreams of singing but it got put on hold when she became a mom to her two sons, Marley and Jaimo.

The Lylas became a group in part because of Jaime. During her time in LA, she started an organization called Mama Earth, which writes songs for charities. Her sisters flew out to LA to sing on some songs and they had so much fun that’s how the Lylas was born.

You can look for their new single “Come Back” in January and their full length album to be released later this year.

In the premiere episode of The Lylas the girls arrive in LA and quickly get down to business joining forces with their management team. The first episode premieres tonight Friday night 11/8 on WE TV so check your local listings.

Stay tuned for my INTERVIEW with The Lylas, Kendra Wilkinson and others on the WE TV red carpet!
